Essay

The dissertation presents a new solution to the problem of forming professional medical communication skills (PMCS) among foreign students of medical universities. The relevance of the topic is determined by the socio-professional demand for language competence of future doctors, insufficient coverage of the issue in the scientific and methodological literature, the presence of a number of contradictions in the functioning of the object of study, which slows down the language training of professional medical communication for foreign students. The state of studying the problem of formation of professional medical communication skills among foreign students is clarified; the review of scientific literature on the topic and regulations is undertaken; the scientific and theoretical bases of research are outlined; its research vocabulary is developed. Based on the theoretical analysis of the researched problem, the essence and structure of professional medical communication are clarified. The structure of the communicative plan of the doctor is outlined, in which vocal acts of protocol and situational character are combined, which determines the content and direction of communication. The essence of the concept of skill and communication skill in the context of research issues as an activity- and role-based component of a doctor's professional competence is specified. Given the defined semantic characteristics of communication skills, the repertoire of listening, speaking and dialogue interaction in typical communicative situations of interprofessional communication is distinguished: acquaintance with the patient, systems review, objective examination, providing the recommendations. Definitions of basic research concepts are formulated: «professional medical language», «professional medical communication», «professional medical communication skills», «process of formation of professional medical communication skills», «skills formedness of professional medical communication». The choice of the competence approach as a high-priority and the most productive in the context of the formation of PMCS among foreign medical students is motivated by its result-oriented approach, flexibility, focus on modernization of education. Effective scientific and pedagogical principles of the process of PMCS formation are determined: common didactic, principles of foreign language teaching and principles of professionally oriented language education in the conditions of medical university.
