Essay

The scientific novelty of the research lies in the fact that methodology of teaching professionally oriented German oral communication to future social workers has been theoretically substantiated, practically developed and experimentally tested for the first time, being based on the provisions of systemic, paradigmatic, communicative, professionally oriented, level, reflexive and personal approaches; this methodology involves the use of case technology through future social workers’ independent compiling of scientific-research cases and contains three stages of students’ training (preparatory, main and final, which are implemented in the course of in-class and out-of-class work), as well as the development of a deliberately designed system of exercises and tasks that correspond to the training stages and contain three sub-systems of exercises and tasks, each of which is to ensure the fulfilment of the objectives of the respective stage; the principles, objectives and content of teaching professionally oriented German oral communication to future social workers have been specified; the criteria for selecting the learning materials have been improved; the criteria for assessing the future social workers’ level of oral communication proficiency in German have acquired further development. The practical significance of the paper lies in: selecting the learning materials of various forms (including audio and video materials and printed texts) with the purpose of teaching future social workers to professionally oriented German oral communication; developing the methodological manual that contains appropriate sets of exercises, as well as in elaborating certain methodological recommendations for the teachers of German on the effective organization of future social workers’ training activities. The research investigates the psycholinguistic features of teaching future professionally oriented oral communication to social workers in German. Having examined the functioning of mental processes (thinking, memory, attention, perception, motivation), the conclusion has been drawn that along with training of professionally oriented oral communication, future social employees need to develop critical thinking, focus their learning on memory strategies, work on the improvement of their attention and perception, apply specific exercises to increase their motivation. Certain methodical recommendations on teaching professionally oriented German oral communication to future social workers have been developed in the paper as well. Key words: professionally oriented oral communication, future social workers, spoken interaction, spoken production, case technology, the system of exercises, social work, psychological peculiarities of oral communication, linguistic peculiarities of oral communication.
