Maliuvanchuk S. Pharmacognostic investigation of Ajuga L. genus plants

Thesis is devoted to the complex pharmacognostic investigation of Ajuga L. genus plants, obtaining and investigation of herbal medicine developed on the basis of the chosen raw material, development of quality control methods for medicinal plant raw material and medicine of plant origin. Using chemical reactions and chromatographic methods the presence in raw materials of phenolic compounds, organic acids, amino acids, carbohydrates, phytosteroids, triterpenoids, fatty acids, vitamin K, macro- and microelements was confirmed. The quantitative content of the main groups of biologically active substances in the studied raw materials was determined. 21 phenolic compounds of phenolic nature were identified and quantified by high performance liquid chromatography in Ajuga reptans L. herb. Qualitative composition and quantitative content of steroids, fatty acids and volatile compounds in Ajuga reptans L. herb were studied using the method of gas chromatography with mass spectrometry. The research of the macro- and microelemental composition of the inflorescence, leaves, stems and herb of Ajuga reptans L. was carried out by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry. Quality indicators and technological parameters of raw materials were determined. The pharmacological effects, such as anti-inflammatory, hepatoprotective, hemostatic, wound healing and antimicrobial, of extracts and tincture of Ajuga reptans L. herb were studied. Based on the conducted phytochemical and pharmacological studies, the possibility of using Ajuga reptans L. herb as a medicinal plant raw material was proved. The projects of the quality control methods “Ajuga reptans L. herb”, “Ajuga reptans L. extract” and “Instruction for harvesting and drying of Ajuga reptans L. herb” were developed.
