The dissertation is a theoretical and experimental study aimed at solving the problem of forming family values in middle school students in general secondary education.
The urgency and importance of the problem in the context of strategic directions and basic provisions of educational development are confirmed by normative documents, in particular the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989), the European Convention on the Rights of the Child (2006), the Family Code of Ukraine (2002), in the laws of Ukraine «On Child Protection» (2001), «On Ensuring Organizational and Legal Conditions for Social Protection of Orphans and Children Deprived of Parental Care» (2005), «On Education» (2017), and the Order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine «On Approval of the Action Plan National Strategy for Human Rights for 2021-2023» (2021) and others.
Based on these documents, we identify several leading tasks of secondary education of students. The dissertation research is aimed at partial solution of the following tasks: education of a citizen of Ukraine; formation of the student's personality (pupil), development of his abilities and talents, scientific worldview; fostering a respectful attitude to folk traditions and customs, the state language, national values of the Ukrainian people and other peoples and traditions.
Contradictions that complicate the achievement of the appropriate level of family values in middle school students in general secondary education institutions have been identified: between the demands of modern society to update the system of educational work with middle school students, which will methodically competently influence values, and the general state of formation of family values of students in general secondary education; between the objective need to rethink the process of formation of family values in middle school students and the lack of sound and experimentally tested organizational and pedagogical conditions of this process; between the urgency of forming family values in middle school students and insufficient development of programs, educational cases, recommendations for creating situations of collective cooperation for the formation of family values in students between their parents and representatives of secondary schools (class teacher, social educator, psychologist).
Based on the analysis of scientific works we can say that the problem of finding effective ways to improve the system of family education of middle school students, optimal approaches to the process of forming family values in general secondary education is poorly understood and remains relevant today. The development of family ties and the process of forming family values is a direct matter of the citizens of our state.
The introduction substantiates the relevance and feasibility of the study; it is indicated on the connection of work with scientific programs, plans, topics; the object, subject, purpose, tasks and methods of research are defined; the source base is indicated; the scientific novelty and practical significance of the obtained results are outlined; the approbation and implementation of research results are covered; the personal contribution of the applicant is indicated and the structure and scope of the dissertation are presented.
