Essay

In the thesis, the socio-geographical research of migration of the Ukrainian youth was carried out. Based on the analysis of previous research, the conceptual and terminological apparatus of socio-geographical study of population migration has been improved. Youth has been characterized as a category of the population that is prone to migration. The study has considered various approaches to understanding the concepts of migration, mobility, migration mobility, territorial mobility, migration flow, and migration behavior. From the point of view of social geography, youth migration is defined as a socio-spatial process associated with relocation, change of residence permanently or for a long time, due to various reasons and motives, the intensity, structure, and features of which are influenced significantly by attractive and repulsive factors. Socio-geographical aspects of migration research are highlighted, which include spatial features of migration, their intensity, the structure of migration flows, factors of population migration. The thesis has determined spatial sections of population migration’s study. They are the following: interregional, subregional, interstate migration, migration within the state and its separate regions, in rural areas, between rural areas and cities, between cities, migration between the city and the suburb, between the countryside and the suburb, within the suburb, migration within settlements.
