This dissertation presents a systematic study of the formation of Ukrainian fashion journalism as a socio-cultural phenomenon in the national historical narrative for the first time in studies of Ukrainian press and journalism. The fashion journalism forms public opinion about fashion, evaluates and predicts the social significance of a particular fashion phenomenon. The subject of the research ― the genesis and features of the functioning of Ukrainian fashion journalism ― has an interdisciplinary, polysystem and multifunctional nature and is considered in conjunction with the theory, history and anthropology of fashion, publication science, gender research and a number of social and economic disciplines. The tools of fashion journalism provide a number of functions: educational, informational, interpretive, axiological, communicative, recreational and criticism functions.
