Essay

The dissertation «Economic Security of Financial and Credit Institutions» is devoted to the development of theoretical and methodological fundamentals and the development of practical recommendations for ensuring the economic security of financial and credit institutions in Ukraine. The purpose of the dissertation is to develop theoretical provisions, scientific and methodological approaches to ensure the economic security of financial and credit institutions and provide scientific and practical recommendations for identifying and countering threats. The object of the study is the economic security ensuring process of financial and credit institutions. The subject of the study is a set of theoretical, methodological and practical aspects of ensuring and evaluating financial and credit institutions of economic security in Ukraine. The theoretical and methodological foundations of the research are based on theories, concepts, methods and hypotheses of scientists whose research is devoted to the issue of economic security of financial and credit institutions. To achieve the goal of the dissertation research, specific and general scientific methods were used in the work, which ensured the reliability of the obtained results: analysis and synthesis, comparison, classification (in formulation of aspects of determining the economic security of financial and credit institutions); the method of theoretical generalization and classification (to determine classification features in the identification of threats); statistical methods of collecting and processing information (for comprehensive evaluation of the results of the activities of financial and credit institutions); systematic approach and analysis (when formulating methodological recommendations to ensure the economic security of financial and credit institutions). The author’s vision of the components of economic security of financial and credit institutions is given, taking into account the complexity and versatility of this concept. The need to define these components as strategic directions for ensuring and increasing the level of economic security of financial and credit institutions is substantiated. An improved approach to assessing the state of economic security of financial and credit institutions is proposed based on the scoring method that uses mathematical proportion, mathematical forecasting models taking into account the trends of changes in the external and internal environment. A conceptual model of the mechanism for ensuring the economic security of financial institutions has been developed, which takes into account: economic interests of the financial institution; state regulation and control; internal control methods; information and analytical support; functions, principles and methods of management; organizational structure; tools; evaluation criteria; leverage and tools for detecting and counteracting threats to the internal and external environment. The work defines the strategy of economic security of a financial and credit institution as a structural component of the business model of development, which should meet the tasks of this business model. The practical significance of the obtained results lies in the fact that the theoretical provisions, methodological approaches and conclusions presented in the dissertation have been brought to the level of applied recommendations, which collectively create a reasonable basis for building an integrated system of ensuring the economic security of financial and credit institutions. In the process of carrying out the research, scientific results were obtained, which were used by institutions in the development of policy provisions for ensuring economic security.
