Bratus-Hrynkiv R. RATIONALE OF THE MODIFIED OVERDENTURE FABRICATION METHOD IN THE TREATMENT OF PATIENTS WITH MANDIBULAR SINGLE REMAINING TEETH

The dissertation is devoted to increasing the effectiveness of prosthetic treatment of patients with mandibular single remaining teeth using a modified method of overdentures fabrication. The task of the research: to determine the causes and complications manifestations after restoration of lower jaw dental arch with removable dentures, and their clinical and technological quality indicators; to establish the main diagnostic criteria for choosing a rational treatment method for patients with mandibular single remaining teeth using a topographical and functional scheme of examination data registration; to develop a modified method of overdentures fabrication (choice of the fixation method, obtaining an impression, artificial dental arch forming) for the lower jaw with single remaining teeth; to analyze the results of overdentures and complete removable dentures application on the lower jaw, taking into consideration the range of masticatory efficiency restoration and quality of life related to dental health indicators; to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method of functional and aesthetic rehabilitation. The subject of the study: clinical assessment of dental health status based on the parameters of masticatory efficiency analysis in early and remote observation periods and integrated assessment of quality of life related to dental health indicators. The object of the study: quality criteria of functional and aesthetic rehabilitation of patients with mandibular single remaining teeth. The following research methods were used: clinical; additional; special; analytical; statistical. In the process of dissertation work according to research criteria, on the basis of the Dental Medical Center, Department of Prosthetic Dentistry Danylo Halytsky LNMU and Drogobych District Hospital №5 examination of 126 patients was conducted. Patients were divided into 3 groups: main group - 42 people for whom overdentures were fabricated to restore mandibular dental arch; comparison group consisted of 36 patients who were using first time made mandibular complete removable dentures for up to three years; control group - 20 students volunteers with complete dentition, who were involved in the physiological chewing test. At the final stage of the study, we evaluated the effectiveness of the proposed method of functional and aesthetic rehabilitation. For this purpose, objective (physiological masticatory test) and subjective (dental profile questionnaire) methods were used.
