Essay

The scientific novelty of the obtained results lies in the conceptualization of the handmade practice as a socio-cultural phenomenon of the late 20th - early 20th century. 21st century, The scientific interpretation of handmade practice as a cultural phenomenon requires a complex interdisciplinary principle involving cultural, historical-genetic, functional, and structural approaches. Their implementation is carried out through the involvement in research of the concepts of "structural functionalism" by A. Radcliffe-Brown, the globalization-civilization process by V. Sheik, the concept of "semiotics of culture" by Yu. Lotman and B. Uspensky, the theory of "art as a socio-cultural phenomenon" by T. Kuhn, V. Wundt, J. Geisinga, "discursive power" by M. Foucault, concepts of "consumer society", "society of impressions", "post-industrial society" by M. Foucault, J. Baudrillard, T. Veblen, E. Toffler, G. Lindt , H. Ortega y Gaseta. The scientific understanding of decorative and applied art in historical retrospect was considered in the general context of art before the Renaissance period. Therefore, a significant part of the theoretical basis of the dissertation research is made up of works on the scientific understanding of art and its nature: Plato, Aristotle, Y. Kant, H. Hegel, F. Boas, J. M. Guyot, E. Taylor, L. Popov, S. Reinak, M. Bakhtin, V. Croce, A. Hauser. An important part of the dissertation work is the analysis of works on the theory of art and the understanding of creativity as a sociocultural phenomenon: T. Kuna, N. Nikolayeva, V. Alekseeva, T. Stefanenko, V. Wundt, V. Tatarkevicha, V. Lurie, L. B Alberti, A. Losev, T. Hobbs, A. Broyle, I. Ten, G. Rickert, J. Vasari, V. Fritsche, E. Heneken, J. Geisinga. When conceptualizing the practice of handmade as the latest form of realization of decorative and applied art, it is important to use Google Trends statistical data and YouTube video hosting materials as a source of dissemination of theoretical and practical ideas and master classes. The time of the appearance of the first objects of decorative and applied art in the field of culture, which date back to the Paleolithic period and are the first works of art, has been determined. Throughout history, decorative and applied art remained relevant and in demand, present in the cultural field under any conditions. The main functions of art and their actualization depending on the socio-cultural conditions of the chronotope are established. Since the practice of handmade is the newest form of realization of decorative and applied art, it has been proven that it has the main functions of art in general. The conditions for the appearance of handmade practice in the conditions of the European locus are determined: a high level of urbanization, "consumer society" and "society of impressions" as leading socio-cultural factors, wide introduction of information technologies into everyday life. This complex of influences leads to a change in lifestyle. The definition of handmade practice is provided as a multi-level cultural system that is at the intersection of such phenomena as decorative and applied art, hobby and craft. The main functions of handmade practice, which are actualized in modern socio-cultural conditions, have been established. First of all, these are psychological and recreational functions that are becoming relevant within the framework of the modern lifestyle. Educational and pedagogical functions provide cultural reflection on cultural codes, their genesis and historical dynamics. Social functions at the end of the 20th - beginning of 21st century acquire an ecological orientation: responsible and repeated consumption, use of natural materials, etc. The results of the research can be used in interdisciplinary studies of sociocultural processes of the global space, features of the development of decorative and applied art, for example - art practices aimed at the actualization, rethinking and development of traditional crafts and their latest modifications, as well as in the development of practical and lecture classes for courses in the history and theory of culture, folk art, art history.
