The dissertation work is devoted to solving a scientific task, which consists of theoretical justification and the development of methodological approaches for the formation of a security mechanism for increasing the level of competitiveness of an enterprise. In the first chapter «Theoretical and methodological foundations of the security mechanism for increasing the level of competitiveness of an enterprise», a theoretical basis for the subject plane of research into the security mechanism of an enterprise’s competitiveness has been developed, which, unlike existing ones, is based on a semantic clarification of the content of such basic concepts as «competition», «competitive advantages», «competitiveness», providing the necessary basis for the implementation of security activities. The essence of the concept of «security mechanism» is substantiated by establishing the relationship between the concepts of «mechanism», «security», «enterprise security» and «security activity», which is obtained based on a morphological decomposition analysis of the key concepts of the theoretical basis of the study and makes it possible to create conditions for the creation strategic competitive advantages of the enterprise due to the activity of security subjects. The established methodological foundations made it possible to generalize theoretical approaches and understand the security mechanism as a set of elements and components of an integral system for achieving safe conditions for development in the market and the effective implementation of one’s competitive advantages. The second chapter «Analytical basis for the formation of a security mechanism for increasing the level of competitiveness of an enterprise», describes the main aspects of the activities of industrial enterprises, which formed the basis of the study. It is substantiated that it is possible to carry out measures for the security of activities and implement a security mechanism only with an effective response to new challenges, risks, and threats to the operating environment of industrial enterprises. A methodological approach to assessing the level of competitiveness of an enterprise has been developed, based on the use of existing analytical tools, which synthesizes a set of parameters of the enterprise's activity and creates the opportunity to develop and implement effective management decisions in the process of applying the security mechanism. The methodological approach is based on the formed model for assessing the level of competitiveness of an industrial enterprise, which, using the expert method and calculating the integral indicator, contributes to the construction of an information basis for the implementation of the security mechanism. The methodological support for the analysis of the security mechanism for increasing the level of competitiveness of an industrial enterprise is substantiated, which is distinguished by the use of the IDEF0, which forms the basis for adjusting the activity of security subjects to eliminate threats and strengthen the competitive position of the enterprise in the conditions of uncontrolled dynamics of the competitive environment. In the third chapter «Approaches to improving the security mechanism for increasing the competitiveness of an industrial enterprise» the determining role of resources in the process of forming a security mechanism for increasing the level of competitiveness is substantiated. A scientific approach has been developed to assess the resource support for the implementation of the security mechanism, which is based on the results of a comprehensive integrated assessment of the three components of support following certain levels of sufficiency, which allows security subjects to generate constructive decisions under the chosen vector of increasing the competitiveness of the enterprise. The rationally optimal type of resource support for the process of implementing a security mechanism for increasing the level of competitiveness of an enterprise was determined. A security mechanism for countering threats has been developed, which, unlike existing ones, is based on a certain set and hierarchical ordering of the influence of key threats and allows the formation of an information basis for choosing the optimal option for measures, the implementation of which allows maintaining the required level of security and avoiding the loss of competitive advantages.
