Essay

The thesis is devoted to the study of behavioral aspects of consumer decision- making and tools for analyzing consumer behavior in the conditions of post-industrial transformations. The main scientific-theoretical approaches to determining the consumer behavior of an individual were investigated in the work. Approaches that define a person as a rational business entity and limitedly rational are analyzed. It was determined that there were scientific and theoretical approaches that considered the individual in the system of economic relations without defining his role in these relations and schools that considered the consumer specifically. In the first case, the peculiarities of consumer behavior were considered according to the postulates of the scientific and theoretical approach. The data of the study proved that there is no single correct approach to determining the characteristics of consumer behavior and all of them require further scientific and theoretical deepening. Within the framework of this work, various approaches to the definition of the category "consumption" were analyzed and a proper definition was proposed based on the outline of the main features that are inherent in this process. Economic and non-economic factors that influence the individual's consumer behavior are considered and structured. A conceptual model of consumption was developed that reflects this process as an element of economic relations, which is a multi-stage decision-making process accompanied by the influence of external and internal, economic and non-economic factors regarding the acquisition of a good to satisfy physical, spiritual and intellectual potential.
