Plytka O. Pathophysiological features of the immune system and oxygen balance in peritoneal sepsis (clinical-experimental study)

The aim of the dissertation is to study the pathogenetic features of disorders of the immune system and oxygen balance of patients with peritoneal sepsis of various degrees of severity; in an experiment on animals to develop a method of treating peritoneal sepsis with an an alogue of the antireticular cytotoxic serum of O. O. Bogomolets. The pathogenetic features of the imbalance of the immune system and the qualitative and quantitative violations ofthe oxygen balance at the stages of oxygen intake, transportation, and consumption of patients with peritoneal sepsis, severe sepsis, and septic shock were revealed. Peritoneal sepsis was modeled in an animal experiment; the peculiarities of its course and the morphological changes in the liver, spleen, and kidney tissues that occur during it were investigated. A therapeutic serum was developed in the experiment – an analogue of theanti-retular cytotoxic serum of Bogomolets; based on studies of vital functions and histological samples of the liver, spleen and kidneys of animals with simulated sepsis, its therapeutic effectiveness has been proven.
