Maikhrovych Y. Local identity of Pokuttia (Galicia) in the cultural space of Ukraine

The dissertation study is devoted to the research of regional identity, in particular Pokuttia (Galicia), which is especially relevant in the cross-cultural contemporary conditions, when there is a stable decomposition of national borders and a mixture of cultural codes. In this context, local cultures and their value mental markers acquire a fundamentally new understanding, as they become an important component of cultural diversity that shapes contemporary social images. This research is valuable not only because it reveals the regional authenticity of Pokuttia, but also because it articulates the problem of overcoming worldview clashes and confrontations between different regions of Ukraine. It is observed that in a multicultural world, where there is an extremely large number of cultural influences and spheres of interaction, preserving local identity becomes an important task for any social group. This applies not only to historical but also to spiritual, linguistic, mental, and national aspects of identity. The research of the Pokuttia region as an example of a non-classical “cultural locus” is of great importance for understanding this phenomenon, as it allows us to consider a particular region in the context of global processes and to understand how this local culture interacts with global cultural trends. This research within the framework of cultural regionalism has led to a multifaceted approach to the analysis of cultural phenomena and processes. Cultural regionalism as a key methodological principle of the study includes various methods and approaches that allow studying the cultural specificity of different regions and their interaction with other cultures. Particular attention is paid to preserving the cultural heritage of the region, shaping national consciousness and identity. The analysis of the cultural specifics of different regions has helped to identify commonalities and differences, as well as to find out how cultures interact and influence each other. This is important for understanding the essence of cultural phenomena and their dynamics in the context of globalisation. In addition, the study of multiculturalism, namely the interaction of different cultural traditions and their mixing in a region, contributes to a deeper understanding of the cultural context of a given region and possible ways of its further development.
