This dissertation provides a socio-philosophical analysis of social self-organisation in the context of globalisation. A number of the most common definitions of self-organisation were considered and it was stated that the concept of order is common to all definitions. Using a general scientific method – the systematic approach – it was studied the complex processes of social self-organisation – a new paradigm, based on the principles of the new paradigm itself, in particular, emergence (integrity), interdependence, complementarity, and human dimensionality.
The global environment was analysed and it was established that there are a number of global environmental, economic, social and political problems, which are based on the crisis of perception and the lack of theoretical advancement of practice. The need for self-organisation as a synergistic cooperation of the world community for a coordinated response to the threats and challenges of our time was established.
A comparative analysis of social self-organisation as a spontaneous and purposeful social order was carried out. The analysis was based on the Friedrich-August von Hayek’s idea of spontaneous order, which he used to formulate the market theory. It was substantiated that the theory of a self-regulating market is based on the assumption that the main value of a person is monetary gain. As a result, a homo sapiens is reduced to a homo oeconomicus and the imperative of competition is established. This represents elements of social Darwinism and indicates the lack of human dimensionality in the interpretation of social self-organisation as a spontaneous order, which is insufficient to overcome the global challenges of our time. A way out of this situation was proposed, which consists in supplementing the concept of self-organisation as a spontaneous order with a specifically human one – human dimensionality – the ability of a person to be the cause of changes in existence, that is, to be a subject capable of conscious, purposeful and controlled actions, both locally and globally. It was noted that such an understanding of self-organisation will allow formulating humane universal values and goals that can become universal solidarizing principles for constructive responses of humanity to the global challenges of our time, which will create new opportunities for overcoming the crisis of perception and theoretical advancement of practice.
The need for profound structural transformations of various institutions of Ukrainian society and changes in the very logic and principles of local self-government were stated. In particular, the need to consider local self-government on the basis of a new worldview paradigm – social self-organisation. It was proved that through the unification of citizens into a solidarity local community, which is able to be a subject of social action, to act in a coordinated manner as a whole, it is possible to achieve autonomy of management – self-government at the local level, which appears as a self-organised way of being. The need for a significant increase in civic competences through education and by reassessing the existing values of citizens by citizens themselves, as well as formulating a solidarizing national goal were substantiated. On this basis, it is possible to change the conceptual emphasis from adaptive and reproductive behavioural stereotypes to transformative and innovative ways of thinking and acting. Social self-organisation as a new scientific paradigm and a way of social existence becomes the theoretical basis for this process.
