Bodrova I. Professional Self-Determination of Future Social Workers in the Conditions of a Higher Education Institution

The dissertation is devoted to the actual problem of the formation of professional self-determination of future social workers in the conditions of a higher education institution. A scientific analysis of the problem of the formation of professional self-determination of an individual in Ukraine showed that this phenomenon undergoes significant transformations under the influence of constant changes in the content and forms of professional training, value orientations of young people, and their activities. Ukrainian institutions of higher education have accumulated considerable experience in training future social workers, organization, and use of technological tools, which have an impact on the development of professional skills and abilities of students, and their ability to professional self-determination. At the same time, the outlined opinion requires generalization and understanding based on a single concept, theory, and methodology for implementing the idea of professional self-determination of future social workers in the conditions of a higher education institution. The stated statements allow us to formulate the main contradictions: between society’s need for highly qualified personnel with stable professional self-determination and insufficient theoretical and methodical development of the problem of professional self-determination of future social workers in the conditions of a higher education institution; between the available innovative 8 technologies in the process of which professional self-determination is formed and the insufficient level of their implementation in the educational process of the institution of higher education; between the need for purposeful formation of the professional self-determination of future social workers in a higher education institution and the lack of sound scientific and methodological support for this process. Research is based on scientific approaches, in particular systemic, personal-developmental, axiological, activity, and environmental, as well as on the provisions of humanistic ethics and morality, according to which a person is the highest value (I. Bech, E. Fromm). The formation of professional self-determination of future social workers is carried out in compliance with the principles: systematicity, consistency and continuity of the objective assessment of the chosen profession, awareness of pro-social activity; consideration of individual characteristics and motivation; partnerships; self-organization and reflection. The scientific novelty of the study is that: for the first time: the essence of the concept of “professional self-determination of future social workers” has been defined as an integral formation, the result of his awareness of the subjective meaning of the chosen profession, the formation of self-esteem as a specialist in the social sphere and is manifested in the unity of professionally and personally significant qualities, professional abilities and skills, the ability to mobilize one’s professional capabilities; a model of the formation of professional self-determination of future social workers in the conditions of a higher education institution was developed, the main components of which are reflected in target, content, technological, and effective blocks; the technology of forming the professional self-determination of future social workers in the conditions of a higher education institution is theoretically substantiated and developed; criteria (gnostic, motivational-value, activity), indicators and levels (proactive, active, reactive) of the formation of professional self-determination of future social workers are defined. clarified: the essence of the concepts “self-determination”, “socially oriented activity”, and “volunteer activity” in the context of the formation 9 of professional self-determination of future social workers; the content and organizational forms of socially oriented activities, aimed at forming the professional self-determination of future social workers, gained further development. It has been proven that the successful formation of the professional self-determination of future social workers will be carried out under the following socio-pedagogical conditions: identification and assessment of the initial state of the attitude of future social workers to professional self-determination and prosocial activities; development of educational and methodological support for the formation of professional self-determination of future social workers; formation of volunteer assistance, social assistance groups taking into account professional self-determination of students; creation of an interactive socio-pedagogical environment for the formation of professional self-determination of future social workers; analysis and evaluation of results based on value reflexes of future social workers.
