Essay

The work reveals the content and tasks of older preschool children speech development in historical retrospect; a systematic study of ways of older preschoolers speech development using children's periodicals of the first quarter of the 21st century was carried out; the developmental potential of the media, in particular, children's periodicals, is clarified; pedagogical conditions for improving the speech development process of older preschoolers by means of children's periodicals are determined. We singled out the following contradictions in the development of the problem of searching for pedagogical conditions that would contribute to the development of the speech of older preschoolers through media, in particular printed media: – the growing role of mass media in the modern world and at the same time the insufficient use, and sometimes also the unpreparedness of educators for their use in the educational process of the preschool education institution; – the objective necessity of solving the problem of speech development of modern preschoolers in the conditions of creating an information society and the real state of this work in preschool education institutions. It is quite natural for children to live in the world of media. However, it is obvious that communication with modern media has effects on the growing personality, which can be both positive and negative. We have determined the conditions, the creation of which should have a positive effect on the development of speech of preschoolers by means of periodicals: 1) the implementation of an integrated approach in the use of media, in particular periodicals, in the process of preschool children speech development; 2) the creation of a favorable emotional climate in educational work with preschool children; 3) the ensuring compliance of periodicals with the task of older preschool children speech development. The scientific novelty of the research results is that: – for the first time, a systematic study of the ways of older preschoolers speech development out using children's periodicals of the first quarter of the 21st century was carried; – the evolution of the content and tasks of the older preschool children speech development is revealed in historical retrospect and their expansion and deepening within the chronological limits of the study is established; – the developmental potential of the media, in particular, children's periodicals (development of speech abilities and skills, formation of speech interaction experience, mastery of reading skills and acquisition of graphic experience, etc.) was clarified; – on the basis of the study of historical experience, the pedagogical conditions for improving the speech development process of older preschoolers by means of children's periodicals were determined (implementation of an integrated approach in the use of media, in particular periodicals, in the process of speech development of preschool children; creation of a favorable emotional climate in educational work with preschool children; ensuring compliance of periodicals with the task of speech development of older preschool children, etc.); – the essence of the basic research concepts has been clarified ("speech", "speech development", "speech personality", "speech environment", "media education", "print media", "periodical print publication", etc.), as well as the specificity and retrospective of the development of children's magazines for preschool children; – recommendations were formulated for educators and parents regarding the development of older preschool children speech by means of children's periodicals; – the method of developing the speech of preschoolers by means of children's periodicals gained further development, taking into account historical experience. The practical value of the study is determined by the fact that its materials complement and expand the understanding of the development of speech of older preschool children using children's periodicals. The obtained results can become the basis of textbooks and manuals for future and practicing teachers. The materials of the dissertation research can be used when teaching the disciplines "Pedagogy", "Preschool pedagogy", "Preschool language didactics" in pedagogical institutions of higher education. The developed methodological recommendations for the development of speech of older preschoolers can be used in the educational activities of preschool education institutions and become the basis for developing programs for the development of preschool children.
