Widespread use of lateral and direct cephalometry in orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning to determine the features of the structure of the facial skull in patients with various dental anomalies has allowed to conduct differential diagnosis of nosological forms of dental abnormalities and choose the most effective method of orthodontic treatment, but remains unresolved the issue of 3D cephalometric reference values and the question of the relevance of the use of generally accepted 2D norms, due to their unreliability as some of them were developed without the application of the principles of evidence medicine and have many shortcomings with the design of research in their development. Also, the analysis of world diagnostic protocols did not reveal a clear recommendation for DAP in the conduct of 3D cephalometric analysis and the absence of clear protocols with the use of this method of diagnosis in the examination of orthodontic patients. The thesis is devoted to solving an actual problem – the development of reference normative values that can be used for the diagnosis by 3D cephalometry, which will increase the effectiveness of diagnostic algorithms and change the approaches in diagnostic protocols. The meta-analysis demonstrates that with the technological development of the world, new approaches and protocols of diagnosis of patients and methods of cephalometric analysis need to be developed and elaborate, and in order to reduce the reduce the ionization effect on the patient.
