The thesis is a study of precedent phenomena of the post-revolutionary Ukrainian-speaking political discourse.
The precedent phenomena are viewed as units of linguistic and cognitive fields, which are well-known among the members of some social group (world, national, particular group) and can be reproducible in speech; the meaning of these units isn’t identical to the set of the components included.
The topicality of our research is conditioned by the fact that exploration of the intertextuality and its units, like precedent phenomenon, in the post-revolutionary Ukrainian-speaking political discourse makes possible: 1) to determine newly formed
political worldview cognitive models in the Ukrainian national consciousness; 2) to identify the trends of their development and interaction of socio-political processes and processes of national self-identification. The texts of political discourse are
permeated with the phenomenon of intertextuality, which functions in both virtual and real space. On the one hand, intertextuality serves as a kind of chain that is capable of combining political texts, circumstances, situations, names into certain
cognitive models within the social consciousness, – therefore forming worldview political systems of social groups and individuals. On the other hand, the instruments of intertextuality, including precedent phenomena, are powerful tools to influence the
recipient in any political communication.
The research is aimed at analyzing the tendenciesy of the modern Ukrainian-speaking political discourse through the exploration of typological, genetic, functional and pragmatic features of precedent phenomena as the most meaningful communicative, cognitive, lingual units.
The novelty of the research is that at first, the systematic linguistic exploration of the modern Ukrainian-speaking political discourse through the characteristics of its most capable lingual units – the precedent phenomena – can be observed. We revealed and described typological and genetic features of the precedent units that are realized in Ukrainian lingual and cognitive space. The functional and pragmatic peculiarities of the actualization of different types of such units in Ukrainian political communication are defined. The research further deepens linguistic and political knowledge about Ukrainian political discourse, its structure, its genre paradigm and the main developing tendencies. We introduce new classification systems and justify the latest concepts, that can expand and improve further explorations of the precedent thesaurus and political discourse.
