Essay

The object is the system of ideas and notions on time, their capacity which persons have on various stages of individual development. Subject of the research is development of subjective range of ideas about metric and topological attributes of time and level of person's orientation in it. The aim is to study of formation young men's and children's perceptions concerning time, its peculiarities. The methods used are methods of direct questionings, observation, conversation, experimental method of evaluation of length being experienced by a person directly. Scientific novelty consists in determination the stages of youth's and children's perception of time. It has been explored for the first time. Extensive and intensive sides of individual idea on time for the person with normal mentality were revealed/ The author showed that own experience of time perception is the main factor for understanding ideas and notions on time. Youth's ideas on time research higher level and achieve abstract reflection of ti me. It was also revealed distinctions inherent in mentally retarded individuals and subjects with baby cerebral palsy with respect to their notions on time. Theoretical significance: the research is a consistent description of development of person's idea and notion on time in individual consciousness. Practical significance: scientific results were used in the courses "Age Psychology" and "Psychology of time", at the seminars of students-psychologists, in elaboration of special questioning. "Methodological recommendations for studying the beliefs about time of mentally retarded individuals" were designed. Sphere of use is pedagogical, general educational and special schools.
