Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the study of theoretical basis of International law regulation on the use of conventional weapons, historical-legal aspects of the problem, as well as concrete examples of prohibitions or restrictions on the use of different kinds of conventional weapons. The necessity of prohibition of fuel air explosive weapons (FAEs) is grounded, as well as concrete recommendations concerning the mechanism of prohibition of modern bullets which expand or flatten easily in the human body and have not been covered by current norms are put forward in the dissertation. Significant attention is paid to the practical issues, directed to increasing the effectiveness of International law regulation on the use of conventional weapons, in particular of antipersonnel mines. The issues of implementation of the norms of international law in the legislation of Ukraine are examined. A draft article of the Criminal Code of Ukraine concerning the violation of norms regulating the methods and means of w arfare is proposed.
