Essay

The comparative research of the evoked potentials (EP) of the brain on the main stages of perception and information processing under acting of stimuli of non-verbal and cognitive character in three groups of school students - younger (age 7-8 years), junior (12-13 years) and senior (16-17 years) is conducted. Age characteristics of brain EP's are defined and on this basis of the peculiarities of activational processes on the stages of information processing are highlighted. It is shown, that brain EP's reflect the modality of stimulation, interactions between hemispheres and internal hemispheres' interactions, the stages of information processing, the age of the people examined. In the dynamics of perception and processing of the stimuli the highest informational meaning have the following EP components: N30 and P60 - on the stage of sensor analysis, N170 - on the stage of informational synthesis, P300 and P380 - on the stage of categorization of the stimulus. The differences between hemispheres are mostly observed in younger and junior age groups in the faster realization of informational processes in right hemisphere structures. Age tendency is expressed in the transition from less differentiated forms of informational processes in the younger age group to the intricate highly-specialized signal processing in the senior group; middle age group has the intermediate position with instability of EP indicators of the brain.
