Essay

The defended thesis summarises some research data on health condition, physical development and hypophysio-thyroidal system status of children populations residing permanently on radiation contaminated territories (s.c. ‘controlled regions’) in Kyiv oblast, evacuees from town Pripyat, situated near the Chornobyl NPP, and comparatively with children-residence of Vatutin administrative district of Kyiv city. While carrying out investigation their radiation load on thyroid gland and body iodine content were measured and taken into consideration. The analysis of medical care provision sufficiency for those contigents has been also made. It included medical facilities physician staff composition (incl. endocrinologists, haematologists, oncologists, etc.) and their qualification level. The author was the first who has elaborated and scientifically substantiated the complex of sociohygienic and organizational measures including medical follow-ups directed on improving health status of those children contingen ts which have been resided for a long time on contaminated by radionuclides territories after the ChNPPD and so imposed to small doses IR.
