Pakhil' V. Problem of sanctions in the UN activity

In work the policy on the UN sanctions for a period of 1948-1998 is investigated. The history of the sanctions development as a part of the UN peacekeeping activity is investigated, in particular, the UN experience on application of sanctions in Rodesia, against the racist regime in the South Africa, in connection with Iraq aggression against Kuwait, and also the UN sanctions against Yugoslavia in the first half of the 90-es years of present century and their ambiguous nature. Special attention in the dissertation is devoted to a topical problem of efficiency and expediency of the UN sanctions' application and the preparation orecom-mendations on theoretical elaboration of sanctions and mechanism of their introduction into practice.
