Essay

The dissertation offers an analysis of the phenomenon of reading in V.V.Nabokov's outlook and elicits the essential characteristics which would allow speak of his positive relevance for contemporary philosophical discourse. It is substantiated that within the writer's conception one's treatment of the world illustrates one's living standard. For him, the alembic of anthropological analysis is the phenomenon of reading understood as a modus of human being which secures one's the truth of existence. During the research process it was revealed that the writer opposes erudition as a means to manipulate reality with reading as a mode of delving into multivaluedness of being. Both imaginative and essay works of V.V.Nabokov analysed. The main tendency of transformation of understanding of this phenomenon in contemporary age of mastery of audio, video etc. mass-media is specified.
