Dissertation analyses the main conditions of the discussion's effectiveness as a form of educational work at the lessons of World literature. The principles of the discussion's organisation were motivated. The criterions of the discussion's effectiveness were determined: the level of schoolchildren's knowledge of the subject "World literature"; the level of necessary skills for studying the subject "World literature"; the level of having the experience of the creative work; the attitude to educational discussions; the level of schoolchildren's initiative; the level of originalness of thoughts and ideas of pupils; the level of substantiation of pupils' ideas; the level of the development of schoolchildren's thinking. Special peculiarities of formal structure of teen-agers' dialogue and substance of profound connections between consecutive statements of pupils, purposefulness of school-children's sentences were analyzed. Two groups of methods with help of which we can motivate our own proposal were deter mined. They are: profound and unprofound methods. The analyses of the discussions helped us to define main psychological conditions influenced the effectiveness of the educational work. They are: activation, due to respective teacher's actions, thinking of pupils, refinement of their thought operations, development of the critical ratio to own point of view and thoughts of other pupils and a teacher, abilities to understand and realize the statements of the partners of communication, ground own opinions, ask questions, formulate doubts, submit new ideas and proposals, give untraditional, original opinions, correct statements of other participants of the discussion, using simultaneously everything that is acceptable for them.
