Essay

The thesis is devoted to the process of word comprehension by the first-form pupils. The thesis deals with one of the central aspects of psychology of comprehension - the problem of word comprehension in the structure of oral speech. The research carried out by the author was aimed at studying the mechanism of word comprehension, its dynamics, the factors influencing its success, and the conditions contributing to its optimization. The complete word comprehension proceeds successfully if such its function as reference, executive, controlling, and correcting ones are realized. There has been worked out a system of lexical and semantic exercises where selection and systematization of didactic material are made according to general didactic principles, components of instruction (content, motive and operational), and combination of training and playing activities. The level organization of the process of word comprehension has been defined. There have also been found out the levels of difficulties of word comprehension: rather full comprehension, partial comprehension, and incomprehension. A model of stage mastering of actions of word semantic analysis, has been offered.
