Khaled A. Principles of functional and planning organization of the seaside public centers of Beiruth agglomeration

Subject of research - seaside public centers of Bei-ruth agglomeration. Purpose of research - to develop scientific principles and practical recommendations on efficient functional & planning arrangement of the projected public centers system within Beiruth agglomeration. Research methods - system approach to the design plans and specification, and statistical data; field observation; comparative analysis; semi-graphic simulation; experimental planning and de-sign of the seaside public centers. Innovation - sci-entifically established provisions for long-term for-mation of seaside public centers system were deve-loped, which are aimed at conservation and develop-ment of historical functional & planning links bet-ween residential areas and sea. Public centers of the biggest seaside agglomerations must have the hig-hest priority for planning regulation, in order to pro-vide preservation and rational use of the valuable coastal area. Possible practical use of the research results - development of the Glob al Master Plan for Lebanese coastal area; entering alterations to the Beiruth and Agglomeration Master Plan; adoption of common zoning principles in building practice of coastal area; development of town planning projects and housing schemes for several seaside centers; inst ruction material for training process.
