Essay

The thesis is dedicated to competition and concentration studies in the sphere of journalism and these studies are based on current press in Germany. The thesis identifies the main forms and methods of the market competition, ways of achieving of the competitiveness of the publications, implementations of the strategic factors of success; the peculiarity of the communications competition is clarified. The competition substantially conditions successful activity of print media in the market economy environment and it as a guarantee of press freedom and high esthetic and content level of publications. It is stated that the concentration of the press always enforces publicist and financial effectiveness of mass media and does never affects pluralism and diversity of publications. The thesis contains the recommendations to domestic mass media concerning the improvement of the publications' quality, organization and management of operation within the conditions of market economy, and enhanced integration in to the international information space.
