The thesis is dedicated to the research of legal means of international dispute settlement originating from cooperation within the framework of the European Union. The theoretical and practical aspects of this issue are analyzed. The criteria which allow to understand the reasons of efficiency of the application in the EU of the legal means of settlement of disputes are offered. The potential paths of development of the judicial system of the European Union and measures on its reform offered on Nice Intergovernmental Conference, February - December 2000, are analyzed.
