Kyrylko V. Funa, medieval fortification, fifteenth century: complex architectural archaeological research of fortified structure of the monument

The dissertation is dedicated to the questions of studying the forming mechanism of fortified structures with a development cycle of short duration. Funa s fortress ensemble was used as basic model. It was determined, that chronological limits of the given fоrtification include the period from 1423 to 1475. This objeet had 3 clear building periods, each marked with cardinal modification of size-planned and fortified structures. In accordance with it, defensive conception underwent changes 3 times, having received its embodiment in the military - engineering fulfilment of ensemble and architectonics of its fortifications. It was revealed, that forming of such fortified structures had been entirely depended on military political situation, geophysical factor and building traditions of the region. Method of using constructive peculiarities of buildings for the working out of fortification chronology was successfully fulfilled, and new date of Yalta earthquake of 15-th century was suggested: October - November, 1423. In consequence of the research the creation of safe base for further studying of Funa - one of the most informative and representative medieval monuments of the Crimea was of great success.
