The dissertation analyzes Japan's policy toward the ASEAN member countries at the end of 70s - 90s. The author highlights Japan's role in the Asia Pacific regi-on, gives general estimation of basic conceptions of Japan's policy toward the ASEAN member countries at the end of 70s - 90 years and defines its basic prin-ciples. Considerable attention is paid to the analysis of the security model in the Southeast Asia, Japan's and ASEAN states' approaches toward guaranteeing peace and security in the Asia Pacific region as well as to assessment of the current regional networks in the sphere of security and economic cooperation.
