The thesis is dedicated to the analysis of Expressionism in the context of specificity of different forms of art. Reconstruction of formation of Expressionism in West-Europian culture of the beginning of the 20-th century contributed to definition of primary characteristics of this school. Besides this such reconstruction contributed to clarification of foundations which supported Expressionism in the transformation practically into all forms of art and also helped to outline some brand-new approach to working on some complex psychophysiological state of a person for example anxiety, fear of death, scream, pain, madness, premonition of a tragedy - in literature, music, theatre, painting, cinematograph. The thesis shows that Expressionism has a tendency to the synthesis of different forms of art: painting - dance, painting - music, literature - painting. Firstly this tendency clearly transforms into synthesis as co-authorship, secondly enriches artistic practice. For the first time in Ukrainian artcriticism an experience of using of expressionistic artistic methods in such forms of art as painting, theatre, cinema, choreography is analysed. It is also show that Ukrainian artists' works did not copy western models but substantially were inspired by national customs and mythological-poetic perception.
