Essay

The thesis deal's with studying the response of sugar beet seed bearing plants to herbicides, in evaluated, particular, with indexes of functioning of androecium of the crop, embryonic development of a seed, yield and quality of the seed produced. It was established the with the use minimal and middle rates of herbicides recommended for commercial beet, the quality of pollen is not reduced and processes of embryonic development of seed is not inhibited. The use of maximal recommended rates of herbicides leads to a poorer quality of the pollen formed and results consequently in inadequate pollination of the MS component which causes lower productivity of seed bearing plants and poorer quality of the seed obtained. It is suggested that, for seed bearing plant protection from weeds, postemergence herbicides recommended for commercial beet should be used applied.
