Tomashevskyy V. History and trends of development of the modern Olympic games programme

Programme of the Olympic games as the system reflecting various aspects of the Olympic movement and social life. Determination of the peculiarities of the Olympic programme formation within historical aspect and revealing the tendencies and perspectives of its development. Methods: analysis and generalization of special literature and documentary sources; historical: logico-historical, historico-specific, historico-comparative, retrospective; system-and-functional analysis; methods of mathematical statistics. The whole complex of factors determining formation of the Olympic games programme during the whole history of the modern Olympic sports development has been determined, their role in formation of the Olympic games programme has been defined, periods of the Olympic games programme development according to preferential influence of separate factors have been outlined, perspectives of the Olympic programme development in the near future have been estimated. Suggestions concerning formation in Ukraineof the strategy of some of the sports, disciplines and events development with the greatest probability of inclusion in the programme of the Olympic games, and suggestions concerning formation of the policy of participation of representatives from separate sports federations and NOC of Ukraine in the work of international sports organizations which promote inclusion into the Olympic programme of sports, disciplines and events in which Ukrainian athletes have high achievements, have been made.
