The dissertation analyses results of complex investigation of peculiarities of psychoactive substances usage by pupils and students of educational establishments in West Ukrainian region and motivates necessary proposals for improvement of primary drug preventive maintenance. Crises in society made the problem of drag taking one of the most urgent and unsolved problems of medical science and practical medicine. The following problems are studied in this research work: prevalence of drag taking among pupils and students in West Ukrainian region, motives for beginning of drag taking, character of its course, which are significant in this region depending on social, individual - psychological, medical and biological causes. Objectivity of the given data is proved by the results of complex social-hygienic, psychological, informative instrument investigations which are based on examinating of 8840 children and teenagers. The author has prepared and scientifically motivated the complex of social-hygienic andmedical-organizing measures which are directed to improvement of primary preventive maintenance of drag taking among pupils and students that have become the basis for medical, pedagogical and organizational proposals as to the system of specialists' training to the work at educational establishments, elaboration of technics preventive maintenance, the aim of which is improvement of their medical-social, effectiveness, that can be inculcalated in different regions of our country. The necessity of improvement of primary preventive maintenance in all educational establishments from the first day of pupil's stay in them is scientifically motivated. The role and place of medical worker and teacher in fulfilment of highly professional permanent anti-drag activity is determined.
