The dissertation deals with the problem of teaching idiomatic Educated Colloquial Speech. The researcher introduces the methods of teaching linguistic students (Years I-III) idiomatic predicative constructions of English Educated Colloquial Speech that are selected from authentic literary texts. The psycholinguistic difficulties of mastering these constructions were taken into account. The recommended set of exercises is aimed at training linguistic students in the adequate usage of idiomatic predicative constructions of English Educated Colloquial Speech. The efficiency of the excercise set was thoroughly grounded theoretically and corroborated practically. The basic results of the research were applied in teaching linguistic students (Years I-III).
