Subject - the system of economic relations within the financial and credit sphere under the conditions of transition to the market economy. Aim - exposure of the role of foreign trade under market transformation in the economy of Ukraine, determining the directions of the further development of foreign trade of Ukraine and development of concrete mechanisms of their realization. Tendency in changing the role of foreign trade in the conditions of globalization and economic integration of the countries is revealed, тhe conclusion concerning the complication of the forms of international trade in the direction of their partial transformation into an element of investment-financial operations is made, мechanism of including national economy into a system of the world economic relations, favoring economic growth by means of the organic coordination of foreign economic policy with structural regulation is revealed, тhe role offoreign trade during the transition of national economy towards economic growth through the mechanism of realization of the competitive advantages on different levels is revealed, іt is proved that government regulation of foreign trade should take into account peculiarities of interaction between economic growth, liberalization of foreign trade and institualization of the foreign trade policy, strategic model of the economic development of mixed type, based on the increase of the efficiency of foreign trade functioning is proposed for Ukraine.
