The dissertation investigates problems of increasing effectiveness of Central Yemen Press in supplying information for socisl-political transformation in society in the last five years of the XX century. The author traces the development and improvements in mass media of that period, paying special attention to problems of functioning of the two main representatives of Central Yemen Press, newspapers "Al-Saura" (Revolution) and "Al-Djumahuria" (Republic). The author gives sociological portraits of these two editions, depicts their information interests and requirements, and also gives sociological portraits of contemporary Yemen journalists who "are described" according to the results of his own research.
