The dissertation is dedicated to defining the notion, classification and functional application of criminal and procedural terms. The author researches rapidity as a principle of criminal process, and grounds the necessity for correction of certain terms provided in the Criminal and Procedural Code of Ukraine and establishing new ones. Other ways of accelerating legal proceedings have been considered.
