Essay

The thesis is dedicated to the analysis of international legal aspects concerning the delimitation of the maritime spaces between neighboring coastal states. The author has investigated the legal principles of the maritime delimitation, the coastal states practice in the light of the developments at the III UN Conference on the law of the sea. The author considers that the judgments of the International Court of Justice and the international arbitration have exerted an important influence on the development of the maritime delimitation law. The significance of the relevant circumstances and the equitable principles in the delimitation process have been analyzed. The conclusions of the present research work can be used by coastal states in their negotiations concerning the delimitation of the maritime boundaries.
