In the dissertation the research hypothesis about the construction of studying material of elementary geography course in school is theoretically substantiated and practically proved by coming from the abstract to the specific, which provides effective forming of theoretical notions in schoolchildren. The dependence between effectiveness of notion forming in schoolchildren and conditions of studying activity, which direct schoolchildren to the research of genetically initial "point" of Physical Geography - landscape and makes them to find out content of relation between its natural components - the main condition of its functioning and development, is exposed. Such relation is "the interdependence of qualities of natural components of landscape". The results of forming experiment are the evidence not only of the increase of the level of theoretical geographical notions, which are formed in the schoolchildren of experimental group, but also of positive changes in their personality development (personalmeaning of their own studying activity, initiative in doing their studying tasks).
