Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the study of the modification effects of low intensity electromagnetic field of extremely high frequency (EMF EHF) has on adaptation reactions in the animals experimentally subjected to stress-reaction caused by the limitation in mobility and by the development of an inflammatory process. It was shown that the important factor that determines an organism's proclivity and resistance to stress damage is that organism's baseline status, and that this status is based upon the preliminary conditions. Preventive action of EMF EHF in the infected animals that are kept under normal and hypo-dynamic conditions, leads to the increase in plasma cytokines (tumor necrosis factor-? and interferon-?), to the activation of bactericidal, hydrolytic, energy producing systems in lymphocytes and neutrophils, to the normalization of blood clotting system, to the decrease in the hyperactivity of the sympathoadrenal system and to the prevention of body weight loss. It was proven that the anti-stress and immune stimulatory effects of EMF EHF are achieved through the inhibition of the sympathoadrenal system and the elevation of the endogenous immune modulator levels.
