The complex investigation of the Western Ukrainian literary press in the 20th -30th of the 20th century is carried out in the thesis. The work contains the description of the role of Western Ukrainian literary periodicals in the development of national journalism and literature, in social - political and spiritual context of the epoch. The Western Ukrainian literary press of the 20th -30th is a unique phenomenon in the history of the Ukrainian journalism. National and patriotic periodicals and literary magazines in particular were only a few exposures of Ukrainian public and cultural life under conditions of occupation regimes in Galychyna, Transcarpathia and Bukovyna under distressing hard circumstances of social and cultural life of Ukrainians. In Transcarpathia and Bukovyna the press filled up all spheres of social and spiritual life of Ukrainians. In spite of oppression and persecution from the side of occupation regimes, national journalism realized with dignity its designation fighting national interests of Ukrainians. Constant development of literary periodicals took place during intewar period of the 20th : literary press grew in quantity and quality. Lofty and artistic level of literary periodicals was very high. Periodicals' lofty and esthetic concepts and also principal activity trends of literary societies and magazines are determined in the thesis. The main problems and subject aspects of the text publications are studied and analyzed the priority of genres is determinated. Generalized experience and the results of the thesis may be useful the training courses on history of national journalism and also may be helpful for the subject broadening of scientists' investigations.
