Essay

The thesis describes how psychological development and health of a child depends upon parents' attitude. Theoretical analysis of specifics of parents' attitude towards a child of primary school age has been done. There have been defined social and psychological determinants of parents' attitude, diagnostic criteria and tools for studying parents' attitude. The thesis gives a three-component model developed for psychological correction of parents' attitude, which includes individual and group training sessions as well as combined pattern of work with parents. Psychological and pedagogical efficiency of the correction model has been defined. Changes in parents' attitude have been also analysed. Key outcomes of the research conducted and described in the thesis have been practically used in the day-to-day counseling of parents and psychological correction of non-adequate parents' attitude.
