Essay

Object: fibre quality in individual plants fibre flax. Aim: to define the best method for the evaluation of the fibre quality fibre flax at the early stages of breeding. Methods: anatomical analysis, fibre evaluation on the estimated quality of yarn, statistical analysis. Novelty: on the examples of the individual plants - cultivars various in fibre quality there have been studied a variability and a correlation's of qualitative traits of fibre, such as - flexibility, firmness and fineness. There has been suggested a new method for evaluation of fibre quality by relative tensile strength of yarn to use in breeding process. There have been studied indirect traits for definition of fibre quality - spinning and puncturing-teasing of yarn. Application stage: it has been introduced in fibre-flax breeding work. Result: there has been developed and inculcated a breeding method for fibre quality estimation in flax individual plants by relative estimated tensile strength of yarn; there has been worked out oneof the best indirect techniques for conducting instrumental estimate of fibre quality in individual plants of flax - a fibre spinning method; there has been elaborated a breeding method for improvement of flax fibre quality; a new flax cultivar Glynum have been passed to the state variety trials. Application area: breeding institutions.
