Essay

The need for a court-appointed psychologist and the procedures for obtaining one are described in the thesis. The consequences of such a procedure are described as well. A definition of a psychological examination has been developed on the basis of theoretical study and an analysis of the characteristics of the procedure. The court-appointed examination is a procedure regulated by law whereby a psychologist is appointed by the courts upon the submission of appropriate forms, for the purpose of examining the psychological well-being of the subject and providing an objective report. This definition of a psychological examination stems from the general definition of a court examination, which is a procedure regulated by law calling on the expertise of an individual in a specific field: science, technology, art, or trade - for providing an object report. The evaluation of the facts, in the opinion of the expert on the basis of accepted methods is presented in his report and is submitted to the court as evidence.
