Essay

A comprehensive theoretical and methodological analysis of the problem of emotional intelligence in foreign and domestic psychological research has shown. An empirical study of the emotional intelligence of juvenile convicts from the perspective of different approaches to its definition showed that juvenile convicts are characterized by less pronounced interpersonal intelligence, are less empathetic and assertive, are less able to use emotions to solve problems, understand and analyze emotions and manage emotions more prone to emotionally conditioned decision-making, the manifestation of negative expression. The content of the empirically revealed factor structure of the emotional intelligence of juvenile convicts allowed determining the ways of its correction and development. Based on empirical data obtained in the dissertation research, developed and implemented a psychological program for the development of emotional intelligence of juvenile convicts, which aimed to harmonize their emotional space, their perceptions of themselves and their attitudes to themselves, others and the world at large, actualization and activation of personal development processes, formation of skills of self-regulation of emotional states and behaviour. Empirical verification of the effectiveness of the program confirmed the positive changes in the development of emotional intelligence of convicts.
