The problem of forming up creative abilities of 5-9th form schoolchildren by music art means in extracurricular educational activity is considered in the thesis. The provided theoretical analysis of scientific literature on the researched problem has given the grounds for the theoretical model of creative abilities, and more exact definition of the term "creative abilities". The state of forming up creative abilities of 5-9th form schoolchildren was examined, the criteria and levels of the pupils' creative abilities (high, medium, low) have been determined, the individual-typological characteristics of the pupils, based on the exposure of such creative abilities ("The Passives", "The Critics", "The Intellectuals", and "The Reformers") have been presented, the ways for forming up creative abilities have been defined. There have been grounds for the pedagogical conditions for forming up creative abilities of 5-9th form schoolchildren on three hierarchically coincided levels, i.e.: general pedagogical conditions, pedagogical conditions for the specificity of extracurricular educational activity, age-specific pedagogical conditions for teen-aged schoolchildren. The methods for forming up creative abilities of schoolchildren have been worked out and experimentally tested. The system proposed includes five stages: purposeful, analytical, project, technological-processing, and controlling-estimating. It has been proved in the research, that the process of forming up creative abilities of 5-9th form schoolchildren is structured in accordance with specially worked out methods by music art means, which contributes to positive changes and moral and creative personal development. There has been proved the importance of the results achieved by the author for the further development of the music pedagogic theory and practice.
