The work is devoted to comparative analysis of the chrononyms of the Chinese and Russian languages. There were found the characteristic features of the chrononyms as a special class of proper names, the factors and foundation were discovered, making the comparative study of the chrononyms of the Chinese and Russian languages possible, the basic concepts of the time in the Chinese and Russian cultures were traced and the referent base of the Chinese and Russian chrononyms found was and their stratification was done; the groups of the chrononyms defining the astronomical time and historical time in the both languages were determind, as well as the general and specific things in the selection of the nomination characteristics of the languages under analysis
