Object - philosophical heritage of H.S. Skovoroda and J.J. Rousseau. The aim - comparative analysis of problems of cognition in the philosophical heritage of H.S. Skovoroda and J.J. Rousseau. Methods - principles of dialectic , system and synergetic approaches, historical-comparative, semantic-symbolical methods. Historico-philosophical analysis of problems of cognition in the creative work of the both native and western thinker had been fulfiled in a gnosiological, valuable,ethical and existential aspect. In the course of investigation the aspects, which determine coincidence of cognitive positions and strategics of thinking of Skovoroda and Rousseau have been revealed and substantiated. The conception of "Eternal and living truth" is proved to occupy an important place in the views of philosophers on nature and sources of cognition. "Eternal and living truth" determines unity and objectifical (invariant) sense of spiritual activity of a man and simultaneously stipulates activity and effectiveness, flexible and mobile forms of cognition. Faith is considered to be an integral part of process of cognition in the creative work of Skovoroda and Rousseau and in a reciprocal causation with rationality and insight-idea is interpreted in a reciprocal causation with a discursive thinking.
